ShabNam Modjarrad

IMG_3426.jpg

Shabnam Modjarrad deeply values the beauty within her immediate surroundings and at large. She is increasingly mindful of her impact on the natural environment. Her love for colors and details within nature serves as her constant teacher and has perhaps the heaviest influence on how and what she chooses to make. Yet, there is another aspect to her process that is unapologetically shaped by several years of education, training and practice of architecture. Over a fourteen-year period, she acquired two degrees in that discipline and spent many formative years in numerous reputable architecture firms.

As a nature lover, multi-cultural observer, and former designer, ShabNam’s uniquely combined perspective makes for a discerning pair of eyes with much to share through her artistic practice.

ShabNam is an advocate of peace and harmony. She recently completed a four-week intense residential course in a gurukula system. She received her 200-hour yoga certificate in a classical Ashram setting in a small village at the base of the Himalaya.

ShabNam was born in Rezaiyeh, Iran. As a child in 1985, she migrated with her parents to Fort Worth, Texas after the Iranian Revolution during the Iran-Iraq war. Having lived in places from Iran to Texas and from New York City to London, that movement has heavily shaped the way she perceives the world.
